Yummy Favorites!

I like to use the word yummy to describe non-edible things.  Yummy colors and combinations of colors, yummy scents.  That’s what I’m talking about here.  Yummy etsy.

I would like to introduce you to a seller I have been drooling over today: HastingsHomestead.  I had some of this seller’s bags in my favorites already, and then today I noticed that they also have beeswax candles in vintage glass containers, so then I had to add the whole shop to my favorites.  Everything is nicely photographed, which is always a good feature for an etsy shop.  Plus this person obviously has a good eye for fabrics (or in other words they have a very similar taste to mine in color and pattern).  That’s the same as good taste, right?

And speaking of yummy, there isn’t anything much yummier to smell than beeswax candles.  Mmmmmmm, I can smell it just looking at it!  Mmmmm!

They also have quilts and very cute bibs and pillowcase dresses for the kiddos.  And here is one of the tote bags that I have been admiring.  Orange and green isn’t a color combo that everyone likes, but personally I find it very cheerful.

And if you just happen to be shopping for me, I want a quilt, too, please.

I don’t know if this link will continue to work, because the “treasury east” is still in beta on etsy, but it’s such a neat thing I wanted to share it.  If you’re not familiar with the treasury on etsy, it’s basically a place where you can collect some of your favorite items and arrange them for other people to see.  It’s fun to decide on a theme or a color scheme and then find items with good photos that fit your theme.  The creator of each of these collections is called a “curator” and I think that’s an appropriate word for the role.  It is sort of like making a little museum or gallery.

Anyway, up to now these lists had a limited lifespan of two to three days, but “treasury east” now lets you make lists that don’t vanish, and you can make as many as you want.  I’ve made three so far,  and as long as treasury east itself doesn’t disappear, here’s the link to my page so you can see them if you’d like:

You can have this company make custom fabric with your own design on it.  Your own drawings or photos or whatever.  Is that not the most fabulous idea ever?  So perfect for any craftsperson.  Such fun gifts.  What about a wedding dress?  Awesomeness.  Awesomeness, I tell you.

I wants it.

SPOONFLOWER

So, yeah.  Now that I have an etsy shop, I like this idea even more.  I mean, I can justify creating fabulous custom fabric because it’s a business venture.

I should put more than one item up for sale in my shop. 🙂

I have this thing about bedding.  Pillows, blankets, sheets.  I always want to buy them.  Especially blankets.  I want to curl up in a nest with soft things under me and soft things wrapped around me.  This is on my mind right now because we’re starting (here in Vermont) to have the first hints of fall.  It’s getting a little cooler at night.  There’s a certain flavor to the breeze.  And what does cool air mean?  Blankets, of course!  ‘Tis the season to crochet and knit and crochet and crochet and knit and crochet and just maybe quilt a million blankets.  (Not that I haven’t knitted, say, a 100% wool afghan in the dead heat of summer, but still…)

I need a whole new closet space just to fill with blankets.  Or maybe I will pile them all on the bed.  Sort of like the princess and the pea.  Only I’m the pea.
